Private University, CHICAGO, IL
CLIENT OBJECTIVESThe University’s key objective was to provide cooling to the social and dining hall while maintaining occupant comfort and the integrity of the space.
EMCOR Services Team Mechanical used an economic approach to provide cooling to the University’s dining hall through the installation of fan coil units that are a flexible, simplistic, and low-cost solution. To install the units, Team Mechanical carefully removed the ornate steel grating that enclosed the radiators and was able to reattach the original grating to sustain the aesthetics of the space. The project was completed on-time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to occupant comfort. The new units provide a comfortable environment and deliver effective temperature-control.
To meet the expectations of the University, Team Mechanical furnished and installed 17 new fan coil units to the existing radiators to provide efficient cooling. DDC controls were installed and the necessary engineering and drawings were completed for an operational hot water system to supply hot water to the units in the University’s dining hall. Team Mechanical also furnished and installed a new boiler, pumps, and hydronic accessories in the mechanical room next to two existing boilers.
